Board of Trustees Roles and Responsibilities
Expectations of Board of Trustees Members
- Support the vision, mission, goals, beliefs, values, and practices of Infinity Charter School.
- Advocate for the specialized education of gifted children.
- Align with the Board's collective focus on the school’s vision.
- Serve as trustees for the educational needs of all students, not individual parental concerns.
- Commit time and effort to attend regular meetings and periodic retreats.
- Recognize that the Board does not engage in day-to-day management and respect the formal chain of command.
- Represent the school only when authorized by the entire Board.
- Respect and uphold Board decisions, even if personally dissenting.
- Maintain professionalism in interactions with Board members, parents, staff, students, District officials, and the broader community.
- Uphold confidentiality regarding executive session discussions.
- Refrain from requesting or accepting gifts, donations, or contributions related to employment or enrollment.
- Serve without compensation.

- Promote and uphold the school’s vision.
- Advocate for the student body.
- Evaluate school management and make staffing decisions as necessary.
- Determine salaries and compensation for school staff.
- Oversee and adopt the school’s annual budget.
- Enact school policies.
- Implement sound fiscal management, including decisions about school funds, debt, and land transactions.
- Approve curriculum, courses of study, and textbooks.
- Adopt the school calendar.
- Enter into contracts on behalf of the school.
- Fundraise for the school.
- Evaluate the Board’s own performance.
- Serve as a resource and communication link between stakeholders and management.
- Engage in problem-solving as needed.
- Act as advocates for the school within the community.
